Fiat 500 Sport Hybrid
Starting from £185 p/m incl. VAT
Fiat's cheeky little 500 is a stylish city car that remains as appealing as ever. It's recently gained clever 1.0-litre mild hybrid petrol power and Fiat has just added in yet another package of mild cosmetic tweaks. Otherwise this car hasn't been fundamentally changed in recent times - and loyal buyers didn't really want it to be. These people will like the smart look, the various media options and the very individual feel. You can tell that Fiat knows its market.
Citroen C4
Starting from £237 p/m incl. VAT
This third generation C4 is a far more creditable offering for Citroen in the family hatchback sector. And, the French brand hopes, can play its part in rejuvenating this segment by integrating SUV style family hatch design. There's a clever suspension system to make this contender feel really Citroen-esque. All the ingredients for a strong showing are here as this third generation C4 nods to the currently trending theme of a crossover style.
MG Mg5 Electric Estate
Starting from £285 p/m incl. VAT
MG continues to specialise in providing budget brand buyers access to full electrification at super-affordable prices. Here's the company's second zero-emissions model, the MG5 EV, a compact estate that offers up to 250 miles of driving range and a spacious cabin seemingly little compromised by this model's advanced battery tech. All for a reasonably conventional price. Exciting? Possibly not. Clever? Definitely.
Mazda Mx-30 Hatchback
Starting from £251 p/m incl. VAT
Mazda's first all-electric production vehicle, the MX-30, is predictably a Crossover. It's been conceived and created with the brand's well-renowned focus on distinctive styling, innovative technology, driver focused dynamics and class-leading interior quality. Cars like the Renault ZOE and the Kia e-Niro may give you the extra range you need but neither of those cars are as good to drive or as well finished inside as an MX-30. So we can see the appeal here. You might too.
Volkswagen Golf Hatchback
Starting from £314 p/m incl. VAT
Volkswagen's second-generation Golf GTE continues to offer a more dynamic, if rather pricey, take on plug-in hybrid technology, combining sporty styling and pokey petrol power along with real world battery range and frugality. The idea is to deliver GTI responsiveness along with ID.3-style EV sustainability. If Volkswagen has done just that, then this could very well be the ultimate all-round family hatch.
